My name is Ulfatt, and I’m 29 years old. I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire with my husband, Aamir, who is 31, and our lively little toddler, who just turned one. As a family, we love spending time outdoors and creating fun memories together. Some of our favourite activities include trips to the park, soft play with our toddler, going on family walks, and cosy story times. These simple moments bring us so much joy and allow us to cherish our time together as a young family.
Accommodation
When I first arrived at the accommodation, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and modern it looked. Everything was in immaculate condition, which gave me confidence that we’d have a comfortable stay. The space felt incredibly welcoming and homely, with a warm yet minimalistic style that made it easy to settle in.
One of the first things I noticed was how spacious it was, giving us room to move around comfortably which is always a bonus with a toddler. The property featured two bedrooms, making it ideal for families. Additionally, the two showers made it much easier for us to get ready without waiting around, a small but important detail when travelling with a little one. It was also very child-friendly, with thoughtful additions like travel cots provided.
The little outdoor decking area was a lovely bonus, offering a cosy spot to relax outside. I was also impressed by the appliances available, such as the washing machine and dishwasher, which made things so convenient, especially for a family stay. Storage space was ample, too, with plenty of room for our things, helping to keep the area neat and organised. Overall, the accommodation struck a great balance between practical and comfortable, making it ideal for a relaxing, family-friendly getaway.
What to Do at Parkdean Resorts
During our stay, we had so much fun exploring everything the park had to offer. The swimming pool was a highlight, with a baby pool that was perfect for our toddler. There were lots of sessions available throughout the day, so we could swim at times that worked best for us. The show bar was another favourite, offering great entertainment like the Milkshake Mornings and the Starland Krazy Show, which included lots of singing, dancing, and interactive fun. It was a fantastic way to keep our little one entertained while we as parents could also sit back and enjoy the performance.
The arcade area was also a big hit. It featured a mix of classic arcade games, kids rides, and newer technologies like virtual reality, so there was something for all ages to enjoy. Our toddler especially loved the playground areas. With two different playgrounds to choose from, he had plenty of space to explore and of course, enjoy the slides, which he loved!
There is lots to do at Southview Holiday Park, making it the perfect family destination. Whether we were swimming, watching shows, playing in the arcade, or enjoying the playground, there was always something exciting to do, keeping everyone entertained throughout our stay.
Extra Activities
The park offers a fantastic selection of activities for all ages, ensuring that every member of the family can have fun. For older children, there are exciting challenges like a High Ropes Course, Indoor Clip and Climb, and Laser Tag. Battle Blasters and the Bear Grylls Survival Academy add even more fun for anyone looking to challenge themselves and try something new. These activities are perfect for keeping older kids entertained and active during their stay.
For younger children, there are creative and playful options like Make a Bear, Make a Memory Pottery Painting, and Bungee Trampolines. We particularly enjoyed the Make a Bear activity, which was great value for money. Not only did our toddler get to create his very own cuddly companion, but it also made for a lovely keepsake to take home. Although our toddler was too young to participate in the activity on his own, it was parent-led, and we were thrilled to see him engage in the activity.
For the whole family, there are enjoyable activities like Adventure Golf and outdoor Table Tennis, where everyone can get involved. Families can also hire Family Karts to easily get around the park, making it a fun and convenient way to explore.
Food and Restaurants
The park offers a great variety of dining options, making it easy to find something for everyone. We enjoyed breakfast at the Boathouse Bar & Restaurant. It was a hearty meal with plenty of food for a reasonable price, served in a relaxed atmosphere by friendly staff, which made for a lovely start to the day.
On another occasion, we grabbed pizzas from Pizza Box, which were freshly made on-site. There were plenty of delicious options to choose from, and we could either enjoy them in the outdoor seating area, at the Boathouse Restaurant, or take them to-go. It was convenient and tasty!
We also enjoyed a treat at Scoops, an ice cream and dessert shop located near the playground. The outdoor seating area was perfect for enjoying our sweet treats and the location couldn’t have been better.
For all our essentials, the Nisa Local store on-site was incredibly handy. It stocked everything we needed, and we often picked up ingredients to cook our own meals in the accommodation. The shop is open until late, so it was perfect for grabbing last-minute snacks or drinks. Overall, the food and convenience options at Southview Holiday Park made our stay even more enjoyable.
Getting Around the Park
Getting around the park was incredibly easy and straightforward. The park is well signposted with clear, illustrated signs that make it simple to navigate. Upon check-in, we were given a detailed map, which was really helpful for finding our way around. As we walked through the park, we enjoyed the beautiful greenery, ponds, and fountains scattered throughout, making it a pleasant environment to explore.
The park was clean and well-maintained, which made for an enjoyable experience. We even spotted a family of ducks walking around every day, which was especially charming for our toddler, who loved watching them. It was a lovely touch that added to the natural feel of the place!
The paths throughout the park were well-kept and smooth, making it easy for us to get around with our toddler’s trike. The layout of the park is very family-friendly, and the clean paths made it easy to navigate with a little one.
There was also plenty of parking available in different areas of the park, which made getting around even more convenient. Walking or driving, we had no trouble exploring the park, making it a stress-free experience.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, Southview Holiday Park is a fantastic, family-friendly holiday destination with plenty to keep kids entertained. The customer service was excellent, whether at reception, the restaurants, or during activities. The reasonably priced activities were definitely worth the money, and it was clear that the kids there were having a great time. The park felt very safe, with staff always around and people walking about.
The only note would be that there isn't as much for children under two compared to slightly older kids, but our little one still had an amazing time. I would highly recommend Parkdean Resorts to family and friends and will definitely be returning to take part in more activities!
