The sun is out, the kids are off school, it’s time for a bank holiday weekend! However, it’s no ordinary bank holiday, it’s the big jubilee weekend!
That’s right, The Queen is soon to reach her platinum jubilee, which, for those of you who don’t know, means she has been on the throne for seventy years.
With a wide array of events, parties and other reasons to gather the family together, this bank holiday is proving to be awash with ways to keep you and your little ones entertained across the long weekend without the stress and money involved in other forms of entertainment for your little one.
So let’s break down what you can expect from this platinum jubilee bank holiday weekend…
Street Parties
Closed down streets, disposable table cloths and a heck-load of bunting can only mean one thing…street parties.
Whether just for family and friends, just neighbours, or an all-are-welcome event, street parties are a great way to get together as a community and celebrate the jubilee without blowing the budget or even having to necessarily travel very far at all.
Street parties will more often than not have an array of food, games and activities for the whole family, and are a great way to get to know your neighbours and the people in your area.

Trooping the Colour Parade
The Trooping the Colour parade is a traditional celebration of the official birthday of the British sovereign, it has taken place for over 260 years and this year will be no different.
With around 1200 officers and soldiers of the Household Division, the 1st Battalion and the Irish Guards, alongside hundreds of Army musicians and horses and even a flypast, this is sure to be a spectacular celebration of all things royal.
You can watch the parade live on BBC One from 10 am, or on a big screen in public at one of the following locations:
- The Mall, London,
- St James’ Park, London
- Bute Park, Cardiff
- Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh

Beacon Lightings
Across the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, over 1,500 beacons will be lit to continue the longstanding tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Coronations and Weddings.
